Montana Kids Deserve Better: $5,000 Match

With your support we can

This fall, we held our Second Annual Climate Protector Ride. Kids and parents and caregivers donned superhero capes, and committed to climate action in a family friendly celebration of our collective power.

This little rider touched my heart. Imagining her grown and empowered to make a difference felt very inspiring, but unfortunately, we don’t have time for her and her friends to grow up and save the day.

This child, and all our children need us to address the climate crisis now.

In Montana, the concern about climate is there, the policies are available, but we lack an overwhelming chorus of voices calling for action. While 66% of Montanans agree that climate change will harm future generations, 64% of Montanans rarely or NEVER talk about it.

  • Expand our climate stories project across Montana, inspiring multi-generational climate conversations in more communities.

  • Grow our skills training in climate communications and other tools for systemic change, equipping more parents and caregivers, organizations, groups, and communities, to speak up and take collective action.

  • Strengthen our work with statewide partners to hold NorthWestern Energy accountable and ensure that they transition to clean and affordable electricity.

  • Expand our advocacy work by helping to address plastic pollution in Montana.

  • Increase statewide distribution of our magazine, The Changing Times, and amplify new contributor voices.

On a shoestring budget, this year we reached 600 new families through our statewide virtual events, direct outreach in western Montana, and through our magazine in 18 communities. We gathered over 1,000 signatures on a letter to NorthWestern Energy’s Board of Directors and senior leadership, engaging in hundreds of conversations about our shared energy future. We facilitated workshops with over 100 people in effective climate communications.

We also continued to champion large-scale personal actions for systemic change, including divestment of personal assets from fossil fuels. To date, our Decarbonize Your Money participants have divested $1.5 million!

But, we need your support to expand our work across Montana in the coming year, and now is the best time to contribute: A generous supporter has stepped up to match all donations up to $5,000 through December! Donate today to double your impact.

Imagine if the majority of Montanans were talking about the climate crisis regularly? What would be different for our kids and their future?

Help us turn up the volume on climate in Montana and join our community for stories, skills, advocacy, and action. Our kids need our voices now.
