Families for Action
To defeat the climate crisis, we need ongoing, sustained action.
To win change, we need to act. And the truth is: we will need to take action regularly for the foreseeable future.
To support families who would like to have a consistent working commitment to climate, we host Families for Action working groups.
Right now, we have one team that meets on Friday mornings, and we’re working to set up a second and/or third team during an evening or weekend time.
Can’t commit to a working group?
Please sign up anyway! We will call on you to volunteer for specific projects and actions.
Not in Missoula, but would like to lead in Montana?
Fill out the form and we will contact you about coordinating actions in Montana. See “How to Start a Working Group in Your Community” below as well.

How to Start a Families for Action Group
in Your Community
1. Contact us and let us know you want to start a group.
We want to hear about you and why you want to commit to consistent climate action. And, we will send you info about our statewide campaigns/effort and how to coordinate with us.
2. Pick a day, time, and place where you plan to commit 2 hours to working on climate action.
We originally picked Friday because we wanted to align with the Fridays for Future student strikes, and this has worked as a recruitment message. If students can commit, so can we, BUT of course this is not workable for every adult, so pick a day that works for you to keep up consistently.
3. Invite your friends or other concerned community members to join you.
Start showing up and doing your work. Email your contacts and invite them to join you! For example, "Join me on Friday from 10-12 to spread the word about this statewide Keystone XL petition. Bring your computer and we will send it out to our Montana contacts." You’ll be there anyway right? So the invitation is to join you to take action during those two hours—it’s not a meeting, it’s a working group—way more proactive!
4. Coordinate with us on statewide actions, and pick a local project to use to recruit more families.
We can help with ideas for local projects that will engage families in your community, such as our DearTomorrow Missoula project.
